Sun Chemical Releases Spring 2023 Regulatory Newsletter
FIA UK Diamond Plus Partner, Sun Chemical, has released its Spring 2023 Regulatory Newsletter for customers, which can be downloaded at www.sunchemical.com/regulatory-newsletters.
“Sun Chemical is a recognized global voice and leader in guiding customers with the information they need to comply with all the latest regulatory updates,” said Gary Andrzejewski, Corporate Vice President, Environmental Affairs, Sun Chemical. “As global regulations continue to evolve and change, we’re pleased to offer our regulatory newsletters to our customers as a resource to help them navigate these global and regional regulatory updates.”
The latest newsletter features details on the European Union General Court’s ruling on titanium dioxide and how it will affect the Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) regulation. The report also provides a wide variety of updates about food-contact materials on packaging, including inks, coatings and adhesives.

Coveris Opens New ReCover Recycling Facility with Pioneering Technology Facility
Leading packaging manufacturer and FIAUK Diamond Partner, Coveris, embarks on the next step of its ReCover journey with the opening of a pioneering recycling facility, the second in its portfolio.
ReCover, Coveris’ new recycling business segment, is dedicated to closing the loop and keeping plastic circular. The new ReCover plant, located at Coveris’ site in Louth, Lincolnshire (UK), uses ground-breaking technology to recycle printed polyethylene (PE) films.

“When we started to develop ReCover, our ambition was to close the loop and introduce a new business model, establishing ourselves as a recycler with a clear leadership in technological know-how. With ReCover Louth, we opened the second facility that represents the next achievement milestone in our agenda”, comments Christian Kolarik, CEO of Coveris.
Supporting Coveris’ No Waste vision and wider packaging sustainability frameworks in the United Kingdom and European Union, ReCover Louth creates a new lifecycle for printed PE packaging films from post-industrial waste (PIW) sources.

Esko celebrates a successful Packaging & Label Forum
FIAUK Diamond Partner Esko, is celebrating after packaging producers, suppliers and technology developers came together to discuss the future of the label and packaging supply chain this summer at the first Packaging & Label Forum supported by FIAUK. As part of the event, FIAUK presented an insightful talk on current state of play in UK flexo, following a presentation of new research by FIAUK 's academic research partner, The Retail Institute.
The event, held 7-8 June 2023 at Holywell Park, Loughborough, was a new event from Esko in association with some of the biggest names in the print and packaging sector, including HP, CERM, DuPont, Asahi, GMG and AV Flexographic.
Delegates took advantage of the unique opportunity to network with suppliers from across the industry, as well as open mic sessions to share best practice and expert technical advice, as well as hearing from industry leaders and keynote speakers.

Flint Group launches its PRISM sustainability framework
FIA UK Diamond Partner and leading global developer of inks and coatings, Flint Group, has outlined its plans to reduce its environmental impact under its new sustainability framework.
The company’s PRISM sustainability framework includes a range of targets such as circular economy product development, reducing operational impacts, and building a diverse workforce. Plans include Flint Group’s recent commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), with the company reducing carbon emissions in line with the 1.5°C scenario set out in the goals of the Paris Agreement.
Matthew Rowland-Jones, Sustainability Officer at Flint Group, said: “ As the focus on climate change grows, brands seek packaging and label formats that are more sustainable to support their objectives. In today’s highly competitive market, printers need confidence that their vendors can help them lead in sustainable packaging via responsibly sourced, sustainable materials."
